Listed below are some of the Biocides used by manufacturers of carbonless copy paper.  Starch and Kolin clay and other minerals are used in the ccp manufacturing process.  The biocides are added to the starch and clays to prohibit infestation and destroy any bugs trying to consume the starch or clay layers.  Biocides may also be used in other processes of manufacturing ccp.  All are considered Pesticides by
US EPA FIFRA and foreign countries.  The biocide manufacturers are required to register and provide EPA all toxicity reports before approval is given.  EPA then give each biocides/pesticide a registration number.   EPA Toxics and Pesticides Division has a multitude of reports and links on the toxicity of the biocides/pesticides listed below.  An internet search gives toxicity information, reports and details from other countries.

The various Biocide/Pesticide manufacturers submit, with their approval requests to US EPA Toxics and Pesticides Division, suggested product uses.  These include slurries (clay, starch, clay calcium carbonate etc.) formulations, paper coatings, high viscosity suspensions (polymers), polyvinyl acetate/alcohol based adhesives and starch based adhesives.
Additional uses in pulp and paper systems control of bacteria and fungi in pulp or paper mill systems, preserving of pulp, pigment slurries, deformers, as needed on fouled systems or continuous feed method.
